A. PURPOSE
The purpose of this Code of Ethics shall be to maintain at all
times a standard of excellence in ownership, exhibiting,
breeding and sale of
Pixie-Bobs. It is mandatory that a code of ethics be
subscribed to by those who are concerned with the propagation
of Pixie-Bobs and of proper breed type.
B. SPORTSMANSHIP
I shall conduct myself at all times in a manner which will
reflect credit on me, and the breed regardless of location or
circumstance, but especially when attending cat shows, whether
as an exhibitor or spectator. I will not engage in malicious,
misleading or exaggerated statements or innuendoes about other
breeders on this website, their cats or their breeding practices.
C. HEALTH
I agree to maintain good standards of health care for cats,
including proper veterinary care. I agree to provide for my
cats at all ages, regular contact with people and exposure to
the outside world for proper socialization.
D. RECORDS
If I breed my Queen, or use my stud in service, I agree to
keep accurate records of stock, matings, and pedigrees, and to
register my breeding stock with the TICA (The International
Cat Association).
E. BREEDING
I agree to use for breeding only those cats which are breed
type, sound, and only registered cats. Emphasis shall be
placed upon maintaining the health, temperament and other
outstanding qualities of character of this breed, as well as
upon appearance. I understand that to breed unadvisedly may
lead to overpopulation and contribute materially to the
deterioration of the Pixie-Bob breed, and I will
strongly encourage the spaying/neutering of any kitten/cat
sold by me as a pet that is not to be used for showing or
breeding.
As owner of a Queen, I will breed only normal, healthy
(disease-free) mature females which are of breed type. I will
breed to improve the Pixie-Bob breed and be honest to
its ancestry. Except under rare
circumstances (i.e., bi-weekly estrus, single kitten or other
exceptional conditions).
I will not permit my queen to produce
litters in three consecutive cycles. I will cull seriously
deformed kittens.
As owner of the stud, I will
breed only normal, healthy (disease-free) cats which are both
breed type and physically sound. I will refuse stud service to
any queen which has disqualifying and major faults, or which I
consider to be in poor health. I will discourage owners of
queens from breeding them unless they have the facilities,
time and resources to adequately care for a litter. I will
refuse stud service to any queens of whose owners I have
knowledge that they wholesale their litters. I will not offer
stud service or kittens as a prize in any raffle.
F. SALES
I will refuse to sell to, or recommend breeders who do not
comply with this Code of Ethics, or to kitten wholesalers or
retailers. I will not donate a cat or kitten, for raffle
purposes or sell to any home if I have reason to believe that
the kitten or cat will not receive proper care.
I
will use a sales contract, or written agreement with any sale
or purchase involving a kitten or cat. I will not release
kittens before they are at least 8 weeks old, and then only
with full knowledge that they are healthy and have had the
required medical inoculations.
I will give buyers of kittens and cats accurate health,
breeding and TICA registration papers, and at least a
four-generation pedigree (if Applicable). I will adhere to the
terms of my sales agreement or written contract with the
buyer.
G. ADVERTISING
I agree that my advertising, oral or written, shall be factual
and not
worded so as to attract wholesale buyers, or to encourage
others to raise purebred cats as an easy moneymaker
